Convo Corner: Aliens, Cats, & The Great Pumpkin Shortage

Murphy sez: I’m not sure where to start this week, Mica. I mean, there’s so much to discuss. A cat, a pumpkin shortage, aliens, a hair guy, someone at the front door, those pesky squirrels in the neighbor’s tree, new sidewalks, new posting days…I mean, how are we gonna keep it all straight?

Mica sez: Well geez, Murph. I think you just told everyone everything we had to talk about. We might as well just let the nice people go on with their Friday, I suppose. It’s not like J got all that many new pictures for this week either. I’m surrounded by slackers. Except the neighbors, who are just loud – especially when it comes to car doors.

Murphy sez: And motorcycles. Though the one that visits over there isn’t nearly as bad as some. I might get used to it. Eventually.

You’re in a mood today, Mica. What’s the deal? I didn’t spoil anything much…just summarized all the stuff we’ve got going on. You know, ‘cause it’s exciting. Well, most of it, anyways.

Mica sez: You’re excited about everything, Murph. Except walks. Which is weird, but we’ll leave that alone for now. Don’t mind me – I’m just hoping it won’t rain tonight, because J won’t take us walking if it’s raining. I don’t know why…we still have to go if it’s snowing, but apparently J will melt if she has to walk in the rain. So it had better not rain tonight. Or I’ll pout.

Murphy sez: Too late, dude. You’re already pouting. It’s probably on account of your legs hurting. When J finally finds something you can take for your joints without fish oil in it, I’m sure you’ll feel lots better.

I wish J had gotten a picture of that cat we saw on our walk the other night. It was an orange tabby cat standing back between some bushes, and it arched up something fierce and hissed at us when we walked by. If it hadn’t hissed, I might not have seen it at all! But I really, really wanted to chase it off. That cat’s lucky J saw it when we did, eh Mica? If not for her, we coulda had fuzzball stew for dinner…

Mica sez: I don’t know, Murph – it was a pretty big cat. I’m not sure the scratches would be worth it. Besides, the grocery stores are out of canned pumpkin, though J swears she can’t imagine why. She cooked up some butternut squash for us to have tomorrow instead though, which might have made an equally good side for cat, I suppose – as long as there’s enough turmeric paste mixed in. Somehow, I don’t think she’s gonna let us try it though. Too bad, really.

Murphy sez: Well, maybe we can try squirrel then? I mean, I really thought about hopping the neighbor’s fence this week. Those squirrels that live in his tree were just teasing me – they’re so cheeky! And they chatter at me from those branches like they own the place – like *I’m* the one who’s trespassing. In my own yard!

Maybe those aliens who were working up on the poles late the other night would give me a boost up in that bucket-thingy with the lights on it. It sure was scary, seeing them up in the air like that after dark. I came and got you guys, but J acted like it was no big deal. Then you had to go all hyper-dog and almost start a fight…geez, dude. I was just letting everyone know that we were being invaded!

Mica sez: I know…and it was exciting! I was just gearing up to attack the aliens. I don’t know why J wasn’t excited. Or why she made us come back in the house. I mean, we should have kept an eye on those guys. By the time we got back out to the yard, they were gone.

But we didn’t fight. Not then, and not when that high school person came to the house selling stuff either. I mean, he didn’t knock, but because he knows J & B, he didn’t leave either. He looked pretty confused when J opened the door. She was just happy we behaved ourselves. I don’t know why. We’re good dogs. We can behave…when we want to.

Murphy sez: I don’t know why he didn’t come in, dang it. I mean, we’ve met him before, so he could have come in to say hi. J still seems a little skittish about that though. Silly girl. Think that’s why we can’t go to the 50 States hair guy thing to benefit the Rimrock Humane Society in September? I mean, I don’t want to go see the mobile groomer, but seems like a good cause, since they helped me out so much and all. Think she’ll go get a haircut?

Mica sez: I don’t know – she’s pretty picky about who cuts her hair. And the stuff they put on it too. And I overheard her saying she won’t take me to the mobile grooming thingy, because that would be mean to the groomers. It’s on a busy street though, Murph. Lots of loud engines and motorcycles. Might not be a fun place for you either.

I’m pretty sure that either way, J’s gonna drop off a donation if nothing else. And that guy cutting hair seems like a pretty well-known dude, so maybe she’ll get over herself and go get a trim too. Not that it matters much, since she wears a hat most of the time when she’s not at work…even when she gets home and takes us walkin’.

Murphy sez: Yeah – speaking of walking, I wonder when they’ll get those new sidewalks finished up in front of the school they’re building across the street? Soon, I hope. It’s kinda dangerous walking out in the street where they’ve narrowed it with those bump-out-thingys.

Mica sez: Well, the new concrete is in, so probably whenever that sets up. We should get a picture of that one of these days. There’s a lot of construction going on over there! Maybe when our new Pawscam gets here next month. Then we can take the pics, since J can’t really manage a camera while she’s keepin’ track of us.

Murphy sez: Yeah…and then we’ll have proof when cats sneak up on us during our walks…

Hey, did J mention something about new posts here next week? Does that mean more work for us? This site is sort of our “job” now, since we’re stuck at home while she and B go off to work every day. We’ve got affiliate links and everything – but we’re donating part of the proceeds from those back to help other doggies, right?

Mica sez: Yep, that’s right. We earn a tiny fraction when people click most of the links on this site, and some of that will help keep us in bully sticks and supplements, and the rest will be donated back to local dogs in need. J says all we have to do is be cute & funny. And since we don’t even have to try on those, really, our job is easy!

But we also need to give people more information, so we’re going to be doing some reviews, and J’s going to do some posts on how we stay healthy. Those start next week, but there will still only be one email per week for subscribers with this post, and links to any other ones during the week, so no spam!

Mmm…spam. Are we sure we don’t want any spam?

Murphy sez: Now I’m hungry. We should get second breakfast. Did we miss anything?

Mica sez: Nope, I think we covered it all, Murph. Until next time, anyways. You know you’re not getting a second breakfast though, right? Better just take a nap…
